Walu is a young innovator, changemaker and a civic leader from Zambia. His interests are in Public Policy and Law, Environmental Sustainability, Humanitarianism and Social Justice. He's very passionate about the use of Science and AI in solving pressing social challenges of today's society. He was conferred Silver Award by Chief Justice of the Republic of Zambia at the 50th Supreme Court Anniversary for outstanding participation and debate in a MOOT Court Competition.
His passion for environmental sustainability and social justice propelled him to establish a climate action club at my school and lead an initiative with community organizations to address pollution related challenges in his city. This effort with a long term vision of creating sustainable employment in his country led to his selection as a Rise Global Fellow in 2024. The same year he was appointed the Junior Deputy Mayor for the greater city of Lusaka, Zambia's Capital as well as ward junior councilor to serve a two year tenure.
At womens-health.ai, Walu serves as a Policy and Outreach Lead for Africa, where he focuses on building partnerships with nonprofits, government ministries, and policymakers to reduce health disparities impacting women across the continent. His work centers on advancing breast health equity through systemic change, while also developing programs that equip youth and adolescents with the technological skills and awareness needed to drive innovation in African healthcare systems. Walu’s vision is to ensure that technological advancement is inclusive, community-driven, and sustainable—empowering local voices in the global fight against breast cancer.
